This is one of those rather late than never blogs.. 😂 There’s going to be a few of them catching up on last year’s happenings. On December 18th it was D-day in the de Kock household. It was the culmination of weeks of arrangements and days of intense packing for our impending move to Mauritius. …
Living On A Rock
How many provinces in SA have you visited and how many other countries? 🤔 Swipe on the photos to see where I’ve been. ❤️ I’m still a travel blogger wannabe in international travel but I am proud to say that I have been out of the country and outside of our borders a few times at least.
Regarding SA I am chuffed to admit that I am fairly well traveled in my own country as not many people get the opportunity to do so. ❤️ COUNTRIES I’ve Been and lived in
PROVINCES I have been
Towns I lived in
St Francis Bay
St Helena Bay
#NAMIBIA – visited for many years and lived in Lüderitz for three years
Visited for a few weeks and been to London and surrounds
Au-paired in The Hague and visited Amsterdam briefly
Fourth time traveling here and now our new home.
I am exhausted after my virtual travels this morning but enjoyed reminiscing on all the places I’ve been and people I’ve met. I am blessed to have traveled out country so extensively.
We went looking for the South African High Commission today. Not an easy place to find as there are NO markings on the very non descript building and no SA flag announcing its proximity. 😂 In short.. We walked ourselves dizzy. Fortunately hubby’s been here long enough to know where we could get 🆓 parking …
In all the rush of packing and moving last year I never got a chance to brag with the girl-child getting her license. She went for her appointment as we were busy packing our truck and I barely had time to congratulate her. We pushed and cajoled so she could get her driver’s before we left the country and she did it!! Super proud! One down, one to go! ❤️

Creating a new normal. This is a saying that I have ‘stolen’ from my SIL Rachelle that lost her hubby in August 2018 when he passed away unexpectedly and online friend Liezel Freeman from Breast Assured whom have relocated to the UK a mere week or two before we left for our new life in …
I’ve been enticed into a 31 day photo challenge for January by a friend and yesterday’s challenge no 5 was ‘a favorite thing’. It’s day 6… I still haven’t posted. The assignment had me thinking. What is my favorite thing? Having just relocated overseas this is a very interesting question. Having packed up our house …
These days I am in a current state of tug-of-war of not wanting my kids to ever leave home and wanting them to leave so my house can just be neat and clean for a short while. #gasp Yes I said it, sometimes I wish/dream of a clean, tidy house. Now I know I will …
The adventure continues……..Accommodation: company house, Transport: company car aka “the blue peril” a tiny little blue car called a Nissan March, a forerunner of the Nissan Micra but not as comfortable trust me. Driving in Mauritius is a dangerous sport as basically everyone just goes at full-speed all the times and your hooter is your …
Once again, it’s that time….time for a blog. And the muse seems to still be on holiday. It’s been like this for the past few months now, I guess I ought to send a mail and demand she/he/it come back so that the writers-block can take a hike. 😉 Easier said than done though. Ideas are a …
