Karolien – There's Life After Kids

#Mauritius - Doing The Expat Thing

The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club by Sophie Green – book review by Liza from books.books.books

The book is set in Australia’s Northern Territory in 1978. Life is very hard in the Territory with almost no phone lines and farms being very far apart and away from civilisation. Sybil, Kate, Sallyanne, Rita and Della find a way to connect.

Sybil is the matriarch of Fairvale Station who has to oversee the running of the whole station. Her daughter in law, Kate, originally from England is finding it very difficult to adjust to her new life in Australia.

Rita is Sybil’s oldest friend but lives far away in Alice Springs and works for the Royal Flying Doctor Service as a nurse. Sallyanne is a mother of three young children with a husband who drinks too much. Last but not least, Della, has left her family’s ranch in Texas to look for adventure in dusty, rural Australia.

The women bond over their love of books and form friendships that will last a lifetime.
